It has come to my attention that some of my friends and acquaintances who have read The Anal Side… of Men, would like to know more about toys for Popo pleasure (“Popo” is a cute German word for the behind). One option would be to come by the shop where I work for consultation . But since we have the internet, I have decided to suggest some toys here.
Step 1: the brain part of Popo pleasure.
It is most important that you are mentally at peace with the idea that your exit can also be an entrance.
If you are not ready to think about your Popo like that, you are not ready to explore.
Many people, me included, struggle with “worst case scenario” thoughts: “what if I am not clean/empty inside?” is probaly the most common one. Or when it comes to men and their own cute asses: “anal sex is gay” – except of course when it concerns loving a female ass. The best way to overcome fears of accidents happening and hygiene issues, is to clean up in advance. Knowing your bowels are empty, helps feeling confident nothing will happen – and makes it easier to relax and enjoy it. There are devices that you can use to pump water in the anus, so your bowels start to work. It is actually quite good for your health to do this on a regular basis!
And men: that anal sex is something for homosexuals only… Isn’t it about time that we stop differentiating between homo-, hetero- and bi-sexuality, and simply call ourselves sexual beings who have many wonderful possibilities to enjoy sex?
Step 2: relax and start with what mother nature has given you.
Once you feel confident and relaxed, you are ready to start discovering. Before using any toys, I would simply start with a finger. Good thing about fingers is that we have them in all sizes, so if you prefer starting very small, you can use your pinkie . All you need now, is some lubricant. No lubricant, no Popo is my device. There are two types of lubricants: waterbased and siliconbased. Waterbased lubes are a bit more fluid and are being absorbed rather quickly. Therefore you usually need to ad more during the act. Siliconbased lubes feel more silk-like and last longer, making it perfect for anal activities. They are usually not a match for silicon toys though, for they can make the material of the toy porous and smelly. Another thing to consider, is that some women react very sensitive to lubricants and get an itching sensation. Best thing in this situation, is to get a special waterbased lube without glycerin and parabeen (the Swede label has two very good lubes).
Get yourself in a comfortable position, try to relax and take your time. If you are exploring together with your partner, make sure he or she is someone you trust and feel totally comfortable with. Do everything slowly and softly, communicate if everything is okay and what you want or do not want.
Step 3: try out a small toy…
After the fingertest, you can try out a small plug. The Fun Factory and Lelo both have a delicate small plug, slightly curved, that can stay in while having sex. The musculus sphincter will close around it, keeping it in place. Therefore the end of the plug stays outside and makes it easy to remove or move the toy back and forth. The grip of Bootie is ideal for holding a little vibrator against it: the vibrations are being conducted through the plug… oh la la!
Both plugs – not being straight – make them perfect for massaging the prostate. But also women can enjoy them. My tip: have one for him and one for her, and both use them at the same time while making love!
Step 4: developed a taste for it? Time for something bigger!
Bigger plugs or even dildos are not really necessary for prostate massaging, for the prostate is located only a couples of centimetres inside the behind. Bob and Bootie are quite small though. To increase the intensity, you might want to try something bigger, thicker or heavier. Bloomie for example is a very pleasurable plug. I am a fan of different materials than silicon, and can warmly recommend steel toys by Njoy. The attraction of steel is that it is heavy, resulting in a different experience all together. In addition it slides in and out a lot easier than silicon toys, for the silicon surface causes more friction. You might want to warm the toy with warm water in advance
Step 5: woah!
A normal sized but still decent dildo, is Bandito. For an even fuller and satisfying experience, I suggest glass toys. Look for some made of special Duran glass, curved, with structure. It feels abosultely amazing (for both the male prostate and the female G-spot)! Eventhough many people do not believe this, it is true that glass takes on our body temperature even faster than any other material. It slides wonderfully and is very hygienic. You also don’t need to worry about using a waterbased or siliconbased lub.
Step 6: good vibrations.
We have arrived at the anal vibrators. Not every one needs or likes vibrations. It can be too much, too intense, or even uncomfortable. If you are curious and your belly seems to respond positively when thinking about trying it out, then I’d say go for it. Our belly is the best indicator when it comes to buying sex toys!
So guys (and girls), I hope this information will suffice
One last thing: when it comes to buying sex toys, I advice you to go to a shop where you can hold the toy in your hand – feel it, sense it, imagine using it – and buy it there. If you are able to touch the toy of your interest, the belly will make the right decision for you.
